Spread the love

The festive season is here again and it is time to reflect, refresh and re energise for the year ahead. With the global COVID19 pandemic, the year 2020 has been very difficult for SOS Children’s Villages Malawi and its partners in terms of delivering our promise to the vulnerable children, families and communities that we work with.

The need for our programmes in child care, family and community empowerment and child rights advocacy grew even bigger amidst the COVID 19 pandemic, apart from being a threat to the lives of children, vulnerable populations that we serve and all of us, the pandemic also exacerbates the health challenge by putting pressure on the already constrained health system and most COVID 19 mitigation measures affected a number of livelihoods for the  vulnerable families that we work with, consequently eroding the gains made towards the drive to self-reliance.

We are glad that we quickly designed our programmes to allow us respond to the COVID19 pandemic and also adapt to the new ways of implementing our programmes without compromising the set COVID 19 mitigation measures. All this was made possible because of dedicated and selfless co-workers that we have as an organisation. They have been the backbone of all the milestones we have registered.

I wish all children, families, communities, our partners and stakeholders and our dedicated co – workers a joyous festive season and a fun filled holiday.

May this season help you and your families create happy memories that will last a lifetime, and return next year, refreshed and invigorated.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
